We observed that if a Lagrangian is singular in the classical sense, it remains singular after being fractionally generalized. The fractional Lagrangian is non-local but its gauge symmetry was preserved despite complexity of equations in fractional cases. We generalized four examples of singular Lagrangians admitting gauge symmetry in fractional case and found solutions to corresponding Euler-Lagrange equations.Article Citation - WoS: 16Citation - Scopus: 17Adaptive Optics Correction of Scintillation in Underwater Medium(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2020) Baykal, YahyaAdaptive optics correction of the scintillation index of a Gaussian laser beam in underwater turbulence is studied. To introduce the adaptive optics correction, filter functions providing the piston, tilt and astigmatism effects are adapted to promote the spectrum of underwater turbulence. The reduction of the scintillation index due to the individual piston, tilt, astigmatism effects and their sum is examined versus the ratio of temperature to salinity contributions to the refractive index spectrum, the rate of dissipation of mean squared temperature, the rate of dissipation of kinetic energy per unit mass of fluid, receiving aperture diameter, source size, link length and the wavelength. For any value of underwater turbulence parameter, the most effective adaptive optics corrections are found to be the piston, tilt and astigmatism, respectively.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 6Adomian-Pade Approximate Solutions To the Conformable Non-Linear Heat Transfer Equation(Vinca inst Nuclear Sci, 2019) Inc, Mustafa; Yusuf, Abdullahi; Baleanu, Dumitru; Aliyu, Aliyu IsaThis paper adopts the Adomian decomposition method and the Pade approximation technique to derive the approximate solutions of a conformable heat transfer equation by considering the new definition of the Adomian polynomials. Investment in the renewable energy system is an arduous task because of huge investments. Generally, RERs selection involves conflicting criteria. Hence there is necessary to evaluate the RERs alternatives in economic, technological, and environmental aspects. Here, DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method has been utilized to assess the interrelationship among the criteria under hesitant Pythagorean fuzzy (HPF) information. The Pythagorean fuzzy set (PFS) has recently obtained enormous attention and is applied widely in decision-making. We have proposed an integrating model with DEMATEL and VIKOR (Vise Kriterijumska Optimizacija Kompromisno Resenje) methods to identify and evaluate the criteria and alternatives in RERs selection. Within the proposed model, the HPF-DEMATEL method is utilized for weighting the criteria, and the HPF-VIKOR method is utilized for ranking. Finally, an illustrative example demonstrates the proposed method.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Age-Related Decline in Source and Associative Memory(Springer Heidelberg, 2025) Sumer, Erdi; Kaynak, HandeThis review explores the multifaceted nature of age-related decline in source memory and associative memory. The review highlights the potential effects of age-related decline in these types of memory. By integrating insights from behavioral, cognitive, and neuroscientific research, it examines how encoding, retrieval, and neural mechanisms influence this decline. Understanding these processes is critical to alleviate memory decline in older adults. Directing attention to source information during encoding, employing unitization techniques to strengthen memory associations, and utilizing metacognitive strategies to focus on relevant details show promise in enhancing memory retrieval for older adults. However, the review acknowledges limitations in processing resources and executive function, necessitating a nuanced approach to the complexities of age-related decline. In conclusion, this review underscores the importance of understanding the complexities of age-related source and associative memory decline and the potential benefits of specific cognitive strategies. It emphasizes the need for continued research on age-related memory function to improve the quality of life for aging populations.Article Americanization of Political Campaigns: a Comparison of the Cases of Forza Italia and the Young Party(Turkiye Orta Dogu Amme Idaresi Enstitusu, 2010) Turk, Hasan Bahadir; Türk, Hasan Bahadır; Siyaset Bilimi ve Uluslararası İlişkilerSimilar to political institutions and structures, political campaigns have also undergone dramatic transformations. The Americanization of political campaigns, which are characterized by certain peculiarities, such as the personalization of politics, weakening of party organizations, wide use of media channels in the political marketing process, need for specialization, primacy of opinions over ideologies and conceptualization of citizens as policy consumers, is a by-product of these dramatic transformations. This paper aims to compare Forza Italia and the Young Party through the Americanization of political campaigns with special emphasis on the connection between the transformation of political campaigns and the crisis of representative democracy.Article Citation - WoS: 45Citation - Scopus: 58Analysing Sound Environment and Architectural Characteristics of Libraries Through Indoor Soundscape Framework(Polska Akad Nauk, Polish Acad Sciences, inst Fundamental Tech Res Pas, 2016) Yorukoglu, Papatya Nur Dokmeci; Kang, JianThis study presents the indoor soundscape framework in detail by describing the variables and factors that form an indoor soundscape study. The main objective is to introduce a new indoor soundscaping framework and systematically explain the variables that contribute to the overall evaluation of an indoor soundscape. Hence, the dependencies of physical and psychoacoustical factors of the sound environment and the spatial factors of the built entity are statistically tested. The new indoor soundscaping framework leads to an overarching evaluation perspective of enclosed sound environments, combining objective room acoustics research and noise control engineering with architectural analysis. Therefore, it is hypothesised that case spaces with certain plan organisations, volumetric relations, and spatial referencing lead to differentiated sound pressure level (SPL) and loudness (N) values. SPL and N parametric variances of the sound environments are discussed through the statistical findings with respect to the architectural characteristics of each library case space. The results show that the relation between crowd level variances and sound environment parametric values is statistically significant. It is also found that increasing the atrium height and atrium void volume, the atrium's presence as a common architectural element, and its interpenetrating reference and domain containment results in unwanted variances and acoustic formations, leading to high SPL and N values.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 3Analysis and Design of a Special Type Power Transformer Used in Solar Power Plants(Gazi Universitesi, 2022) Yükselen, E.; Iskender, I.Due to growing of greenhouse gas emissions and lack of the fossil sources, governments encouraged all scientists and utilities for looking to the alternative energy sources such as solar renewable energy which can help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In this respect, Photovoltaic (PV) power plants have become more important in recent years and renewable energy sources integrated into the power system are increasing day by day. Transformers are the main components of electrical grids and are widely used in renewable power plants to transfer the energy they produce to the grid. Accordingly, transformers are one of the most critical equipment of PV plants, and their safe operation and stability in the electrical network are important. This type of transformer is supplied from solar panels through inverters and needs to be customized to work with each system. In this type of transformer, the losses are higher than those for transformers used in electrical power systems supplied by sinusoidal voltage considering existence of different voltage and current harmonics content produced by the inverter. In this study, a special type of PV transformer was designed in accordance with the target performance criteria, taking into account the effects of harmonics, and keeping the transformer losses and temperature rise at a safe level. In this paper also the simulation results are compared with those of experiments test to verify the design procedures. © 2022. Also, the isobaric Gruneisen parameter of A(g) Raman modes studied here was computed below the room temperature. This computation was performed from the unit cell volume and the observed frequency data of this crystal. Finally, values of the activation energy were extracted close to the structural phase transition temperatures of 160 and 265 K using the observed FWHM data of strontium stannate.Article Analysis and Mathematical Computation of Some Dynamic Functions for the Guanidine Zinc Sulfate(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2021) Askun, A. R.; Kiraci, A.A power-law formula with a critical exponent alpha was used to analyze the anomalous behavior of the specific heat for guanidine zinc sulfate (GZS) crystal close to the phase transition temperature of T-c = 178.4 K. The obtained values of 0.13 and 0.14 for alpha below (T < T-c) and above (T> T-c) the phase transition temperature, respectively, were almost the same value of 0.13 (1/8) that predicted from the 3-D (sing model. Also, the internal energy U, the entropy S and the free energy G of this crystal were calculated as a function of temperature dose to the phase transition temperature of T-c = 178.4 K.Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 4Analysis of a Historic Masonry Building(Croatian Soc Civil Engineers-hsgi, 2011) Ozmen, Cengiz; Özmen, Cengiz; Akan, Asli Er; Akan, Aslı; Unay, Ali Ihsan; MimarlıkThe paper starts from the observation that historic masonry buildings are often modified and altered to make them fit for present day use. The results indicate that the scintillation decreases when the anisotropy factors in both x and y directions increase. Increases in the beam asymmetry ratio and the inner scale length increase the scintillation index level. The scintillations are found to increase as the propagation distance and structure constant increase, and as the wavelength decreases. Being valid for any asymmetry and anisotropic factor, for small values of the power law exponent, alpha of non-Kolmogorov marine atmospheric turbulence, the scintillation index tends to increase proportionally with alpha. However, as alpha is further increased, the scintillation index starts to decrease after reaching a peak value. Larger anisotropy in the non-Kolmogorov marine turbulence is found to be preferable since the scintillation index is found to decrease at large anisotropic factors.Article Citation - WoS: 26Citation - Scopus: 28Analysis of Flat-Topped Gaussian Vortex Beam Scintillation Properties in Atmospheric Turbulence(Spie-soc Photo-optical instrumentation Engineers, 2019) Elmabruk, Kholoud; Eyyuboglu, Halil T.We analyze the scintillation properties of a flat-topped Gaussian vortex beam propagating in a weakly turbulent atmosphere. We utilize a random phase screen model to perform this analysis. We evaluate the scintillation against the changes of topological charge, beam order, operating wavelength, receiver aperture side length, and source size parameters. The results show that using a flat-topped Gaussian vortex beam with a high topological charge causes a reduction in scintillation. Increasing the receiver aperture side length reduces scintillation level. As the source size increases, scintillation decreases. Our results also indicate that a flat-topped Gaussian vortex beam with high topological charges has less scintillation than the fundamental Gaussian beam. We believe that our findings will be useful in improving the performance of next-generation optical communication links and networks. An equivalent integral equation is established and Adomian polynomials are adopted to linearize non-linear terms. With the Taylor expansion of fractional order, recurrence formulae are proposed and novel numerical solutions are obtained to depict the diffusion behaviors more accurately. The result shows that the method is suitable for numerical simulation of the fractional diffusion equations of multi-orders.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Analysis of Heat Transfer Enhancement in Tubes With Capsule Dimpled Surfaces and Al2o3-Water Nanofluid(Turkish Soc thermal Sciences Technology, 2022) Ibrahim, Mahmoud Awni A. Haj; Turkoglu, Hasmet; Yapici, Ekin OzgirginThis study aims to numerically investigate and evaluate the enhancement of heat transfer by new capsule dimples on tube surfaces for flow of water and Al2O3-water nanofluid with different concentrations, under uniform surface heat flux. The originality of this work lies in combining two passive heat transfer enhancement methods such as geometrical improvements and nanofluids together. Capsule dimples with different depths were considered. Al2O3- water nanofluid was modeled as a single-phase flow based on the mixture properties. The effects of dimple depth and nanoparticle concentrations on Nusselt number, friction factor and performance evaluation criteria (PEC) were studied. Numerical computations were performed using ANSYS Fluent commercial software for 2000-14000 Reynolds number range. It was found that when laminar, transient and fully developed turbulent flow cases are considered, increase in the dimple depth increases the Nusselt number and friction factor for both pure water and Al2O3-water nanofluids cases. Also, the friction factor increases as dimple depth increases. Results show that increase in PEC is more pronounced in the laminar region than in the transition region, it starts to decrease for turbulent flows. For nanofluid, PEC values are considerably higher than pure water cases. The variation of PEC for capsule dimpled tubes are dependent on flow regimes and dimple depths. Increasing the nano particle volume concentration and dimple depth in laminar flows increase the PEC significantly.Article Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 8Analysis of Laser Multimode Content on the Angle-Of Fluctuations in Free-Space Optics Access Systems(Spie-soc Photo-optical instrumentation Engineers, 2005) Eyyuboglu, HT; Baykal, YThe effects of laser beam multimode content on the angle-of-arrival fluctuations are examined for free-space optics (FSO) access systems. Multimode excitation is represented by coherent addition of Hermite-Gaussian modes. Mean square angle-of-arrival fluctuations are formulated using our previously reported multimode phase structure function. Numerical evaluations are obtained for practical FSO links operating at 1.55- and 0.85-mu m wavelengths with link spans of up to 5 km. Mode content is arranged by sequentially grouping all possible mode combinations starting from the single fundamental mode (TEM00) up to a certain higher order (n,m). Angle-of-arrival fluctuations are found to be of the order of several tens of microradians, except for the cases when the mode group terminates with an odd mode or when the extremely higher order modes are present. In these instances, the fluctuations will rise to the radian level. From these results, it is concluded that the performance of a practical FSO receiver, having a field of view of several milliradians, will not be substantially affected by the angle-of-arrival fluctuations due to multimode excitation, provided that the mode content of source excitation is confined to mode indices below 20. Data gathered from the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's official websites, between the years 2013 and 2023, were utilized and time series analysis was conducted. The Industrial Production Index was used as a proxy for economic expansion. This research used five variables, all shown in logarithmic form (Export, Import, Volume, Handling, and Index). Unit root tests were done to examine the stationarity of the series. Regression analysis was conducted utilizing the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method to ascertain the short-term direction of the relationship between the variables. The findings from the Toda-Yamamoto causality test align with those derived from OLS and affirm that within the maritime sector, sea freight transportation exerts a positive impact on foreign trade, particularly in the short term.Article Citation - Scopus: 1Analysis of Parallel Decodable Turbo Codes(Ieice-inst Electronics information Communications Eng, 2012) Gazi, OrhanTurbo codes suffer from high decoding latency which hinders their utilization in many communication systems. Parallel decodable turbo codes (PDTCs) are suitable for parallel decoding and hence have low latency. In this article, we analyze the worst case minimum distance of parallel decodable turbo codes with both S-random interleaver and memory collision free Row-Column S-random interleaver. The effect of minimum distance on code performance is determined through computer simulations.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 13Analysis of Riccati Differential Equations Within a New Fractional Derivative Without Singular Kernel(Ios Press, 2017) Lia, Atena; Tejadodi, Haleh; Baleanu, Dumitru; Jafari, HosseinRecently Caputo and Fabrizio suggested new definition of fractional derivative that the new kernel has no singularity. In this paper, an analytical method for solving Riccati differential equation with a new fractional derivative is reported. We present numerical results of solving the fractional Riccati differential equations by using the variational iteration method and its modification. The obtained results of two methods demonstrate the efficiency and simplicity of the MVIM that gives good approximations for a larger interval.
