Conference Object Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 10About Lagrangian Formulation of Classical Fields Within Riemann-Liouville Fractional Derivatives(American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2005) Baleanu, D.; Muslih, S.I.Recently, an extension of the simplest fractional problem and the fractional variational problem of Lagrange was obtained by Agrawal. The first part of this study presents the fractional Lagrangian formulation of mechanical systems and introduce the Levy path integral. The second part is an extension to Agrawal's approach to classical fields with fractional derivatives. The classical fields with fractional derivatives are investigated by using the Lagrangian formulation. The case of the fractional Schrödinger equation is presented. It presupposes the substitution of photons by ballistic electrons, but it also requires a simple and robust concept to assemble the analogues of basic electronic and optical components on such a tiny length scale. Here, one of the most promising candidate schemes employs graphene as a basic nanosubstrate. We elucidate the suggested behaviour of graphene as an electronic metamaterial [1], and show that other desired electronic or optical functionalities may be obtained through a patterning with sub-nanometer sized boron clusters [2]. © 2008 IEEE.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 2About the Fn Approximation To Fractional Neutron Transport Equation in Slab Geometry(Amer Soc Mechanical Engineers, 2011) Baleanu, D.; Kadem, A.The neutron transport denotes the study of the motions and interactions of neutrons with materials. In given applications we need to know where neutrons are in an apparatus, what direction they are moving, and how fast they are going. In this manuscript the Legendre polynomial approximation method F N was applied to the one dimensional slab geometry neutron transport equation. © 2011 by ASME.Article Citation - WoS: 1The Adaptation of Modern Housing Heritage: Authenticity and Integrity in the Case of Cité Modèle(Univ Politecnica Valencia, Editorial Upv, 2024) Ozmen, AycaThe post-war social housing estate, Cit & eacute; Mod & egrave;le (Model City) in Laeken-Brussel (BE) was designed with CIAM principles in 1950s as a high-rise modern residential district where different types of dwellings integrated with car-free zones, wide green areas and various social facilities. Today it is an exceptional urban site in the history of modern architecture in Belgium. However, physical deterioration and socio-economic vulnerability necessitated the adaptation of the settlement in 2005, leading to the preparation of a masterplan which included a twelve-year of rehabilitation programme. Different types of interventions, both prior to this masterplan and in accordance with it, have led to changes in different attributes of this living heritage site. This paper aims to discuss the impacts of various conservation and adaptation strategies on the authenticity and integrity of the modern housing heritage, while considering expanding and questioning their definitions. The methodology includes literature review, field surveys, case study analyses, and comparative tabular evaluations to explore the dimensions of authenticity and integrity in modern housing heritage. The research on this case study has the potential to address a notable question in the literature on both architectural conservation and design based on the dialogue between continuity and change, and the re-interpretation of authenticity and integrity regarding a living modern heritage site.Editorial Advanced Theoretical and Applied Studies of Fractional Differential Equations 2013(Hindawi Publishing Corporation, 2014) Baleanu, Dumitru; Trujillo, Juan J.; Ahmad, BashirArticle Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 10Aggregation Operators for Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Hypersoft Set With Their Application in Material Selection(Hindawi Ltd, 2022) Zulqarnain, Rana Muhammad; Siddique, Imran; Jarad, Fahd; Karamti, Hanen; Iampan, AiyaredThe intuitionistic fuzzy hypersoft set (IFHSS) is the most generalized form of the intuitionistic fuzzy soft set used to resolve uncertain and vague data in the decision-making process, considering the parameters' multi-sub-attributes. Aggregation operators execute a dynamic role in assessing the two prospect sequences and eliminating anxieties from this perception. This paper prolongs the IFHSS to interval-valued IFHSS (IVIFHSS), which proficiently contracts with hesitant and unclear data. It is the most potent technique for incorporating insecure data into decision-making (DM). The main objective of this research is to develop the algebraic operational laws for IVIFHSS. Furthermore, using the algebraic operational law, some aggregation operators (AOs) for IVIFHSS have been presented, such as interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy hypersoft weighted average (IVIFHSWA) and interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy hypersoft weighted geometric (IVIFHSWG) operators with their essential properties. Multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) technique is vigorous for material selection. However, conventional methods of MCGDM regularly provide inconsistent results. Based on the expected AOs, industrial enterprises propose a robust MCGDM material selection method to meet this shortfall. The real-world application of the planned MCGDM method for cryogenic storing vessel material selection (MS) is presented. The implication is that the designed model is more efficient and consistent in handling information based on IVIFHSS.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 2Alternative Enhancement of Associativity Based Routing (Aeabr) for Mobile Networks(Springer, 2010) Preveze, B.; Şafak, A.This study proposes an alternative enhancement for the Enhanced Associativity Based Routing (EABR) method which is a derivation of ABR (Associativity Based Routing) by relative speed and relative distance estimation using the received power strength (RPS) of the nodes. In this study, it is shown that EABR outperforms some other well known protocols. The performance of EABR is improved in terms of number of route reconstructions (RRC) and connected status percentage (CSP). Message overhead and bandwidth utilization is also investigated. © 2010 ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social-Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 2Analysis of Delay Factors for Voice Over Wimax(Ieee, 2008) Safak, A.; Preveze, B.This paper presents the results of our computer simulation for delays experienced by voice packets over WiMAX 802.16e protocol running over an enterprise packet network connected to public internet. In the simulation we analyzed the effect of packet size, core network link speed, internet service provider link speed, wireless network link speed, wireless distance, base station range, and distance in internet parameters that effect the amount of delay in a WiMAX embedded IP network. In this study, all the delay parameters are fixed to their default values and current parameter values are changed so that the delay is varied between minimum and maximum values in uniformly distributed 100 steps and the delay is plotted in each step. Total fixed delays can be considered as minimum delay and variable delay corresponds to the maximum delay that can occur under the given conditions. All other fixed and variable delay parameters such as switching delays, packetization delays, contention delays and the delays caused by buffers etc. are also taken into account. The results indicate that among these delays WiMAX base station range and the number of base stations play the most decisive role. © 2008 IEEE.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 2An Application of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery Process in the Field of Natural Gas Exploration(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2014) Acar, M.A.; Tolun, M.R.; Elbaşi, E.Natural gas exploration has been shifting significantly in the last decades with the progression of new ingenious technologies. Global optimality of local minima is then studied both for single variable functions and for multi variables ones. Finally, a concrete optimal fleet mix problem is studied, pointing out its discrete convexity properties. © 2006 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 2Approaches on the Selection of Web Cameras and Calibration Targets for Stereo Vision(Ieee, 2006) Eren, Haluk; Celik, Umit; Poyraz, MustafaIn this paper, it is studied on the calibration by using specified web cameras. The performance of 3D computer vision depends on the accuracy of camera parameters. Therefore, camera calibration is very crucial in stereo vision. In this study, the options and selection of the target object that is used by the process of camera calibration are reviewed and evaluated some results obtained by web cameras. Webcams' costs are low relatively to the other digital consumer cameras but cannot be acquired a high resolution image.Conference Object A Bibliographic Mapping Study: Concepts and Their Relationships in Information Literacy Before and After Covid 19 Pandemic(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2024) Akkoyunlu, Buket; Cetin, Nihal MenziThe aim of the study was to reveal the Information Literacy (IL) concept and relationship between the concept of IL before and after the pandemic. Some examples are discussed to show the capability of this method for the damped wave, Helmholtz and heat conduction equations defined on Cantor sets. We show that it is a powerful tool to convert differential equations on Cantor sets from Cantorian-coordinate systems to Cantor-type spherical-coordinate systems.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 7Chemometric Methods for the Simultaneous Spectrophotometnc Determination of Telmisartan and Hydrochlorotiazide in the Commercial Pharmaceuticals(SYSCOM 18 S.R.L., 2009) Beliz, K.; Dinç, E.; Baleanu, D.Simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of telmisartan (TEL) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) in two different commercial pharmaceutical preparations were performed by using three different chemometric methods, namely principal component regression (PCR), partial least squares (PLS) and artificial neural network (ANN). The proposed chemometric methods do not require chemical seperation and spectral graphical procedures for the quantitative resolution of mixtures containing the titled compounds. In the preparation of chemometric calibrations, a concentration set of 45 synthetic mixtures containing TEL and HCT in the linear concentration range of 1.0-26.0 and 7.0-7 7.0 pglmL, respectively was simetrically prepared in methanol. The spectra of the above concentration set and samples were recorded in the spectral range of 200-350 nm. Concentration set and its corresponding absorbances in the selected spectral range corresponding to the 250350 nm wavelength range was used to obtain PCR, PLS and ANN calibrations. Recovery study, intra-day, inter-day and standard addition technique were considered as method validation. Three proposed chemometric approaches were sucessfully applied to the quantitative analysis of two different commercial pharmaceutical products.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 2Clustering Analysis for Vasculitic Diseases(Springer-verlag Berlin, 2010) Yildirim, Pinar; Ceken, Cinar; Ceken, Kagan; Tolun, Mehmet R.We introduce knowledge discovery for vasculitic diseases in this paper. Vasculitic diseases affect some organs and tissues and diagnosing can be quite difficult. Biomedical literature can contain hidden and useful knowledge for biomedical research and we develop a study based on co-occurrence analysis by using the articles in MEDLINE which is a widely used database. The mostly seen vasculitic diseases are selected to explore hidden patterns. We select PolySearch system as a web based biomedical text mining tool to find organs and tissues in the articles and create two separate datasets with their frequencies for each disease. After forming these datasets, we apply hierarchical clustering analysis to find similarities between the diseases. Clustering analysis reveals some similarities between diseases. We think that the results of clustered diseases positively affect on the medical research of vasculitic diseases especially during the diagnosis and certain similarities can provide different views to medical specialists.Article Citation - WoS: 16Citation - Scopus: 19Comparative analysis of multicriteria decision making methods for postgraduate student selection(Anı Yayıncılık, 2010) Altunok, Taner; Ozpeynirci, Ozgur; Kazancoglu, Yigit; Yilmaz, RecaiProblem Statement: The educational recourses available for postgraduate education are limited compared with the resources for undergraduate education. An academic advisor is required for each graduate student. The academic staff allocates an important portion of his/her time for graduate studies of his/her students. Since the number of academic staff is limited, the number of graduate students should be limited, too. While a large number of students may attend an undergraduate course, this may not be possible for some graduate courses, which are designed especially for small student groups. Hence, the selection of postgraduate students is an important problem. The postgraduate student selection problem can be defined as selecting a subset of students from the applicants for a postgraduate program. Naturally, this problem is a multi-criteria decision-making problem since each applicant has several attributes and these attributes should be considered simultaneously during the selection process. Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of different multi criteria decision-making methods developed for ranking alternatives for the postgraduate student selection problem. The best method will also be used in the student selection process for the Defense Sciences Institute of Turkish Military Academy. Methods: This paper discusses three multi-criteria decision making methods developed for ranking alternatives, namely Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Weighted Product (WP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). A performance measure is defined and the performance values of the methods are compared using real data gathered from the graduates of Defense Sciences Institute of Turkish Military Academy for illustration purposes. Findings and Results: According to the findings, AHP is the best of the three competitors. The ranking obtained by AHP is quite similar to the ranking of students with respect to their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) after their graduation from the program. Conclusions and Recommendations: Considering graduate student selection problem as a multicriteria decision-making problem is very important and enables universities to enroll graduate students with important attributes and a variety of strengths. This paper compares the performance of different multicriteria decision-making methods on graduate student selection problem using a single performance measure. A further study can be making such a comparison with multiple performance measuresArticle Comparative Literature in the Turkish Context: Past, Present and Possible Trajectories(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Kirca, Mustafa; Baktir, H.This article aims to offer a concise analysis and evaluation of the historical trajectory and the current state of comparative literature in Turkey with a particular focus on its interdisciplinary nature. Additionally, it seeks to explore the development of comparative literature and translation studies in the Turkish context, aiming to reassess the seemingly close relationship between these adjacent fields within the context of Turkish literature, which can, we believe, encourage border-crossings in comparative and translation studies and open a space for newfangled approaches in comparative studies of translated literature. In this paper, a Configurable IP core architecture (A-CAN) which is compatible with the CAN FD standard, is proposed. Different than existing CAN/CAN FD controllers, the numbers and sizes of transmit and receive buffers of A-CAN can be configured in run time. To this end, A-CAN enables the best use of single controller hardware for different applications and enables improving the real time communication performance. A-CAN communicates with the host device over SPI without any specific interface requirements. A-CAN is implemented on an FPGA Evaluation Board and its functionally is verified at a rate of 2 Mbps. © 2017 IEEE.Conference Object Controller Synthesis With a Cone Complementarity Linearization Algorithm for CACC System Under Time-Varying Delay(IEEE, 2025) Bingol, HilalCooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) is an intelligent vehicle technology that enables vehicle follow-up in a small inter-vehicle distance. Stability is the main property of the CACC system that prevents any signal fluctuations throughout the vehicle string. In CACC system, time delay has a negative impact on string stability. The reason is that constant and varying time delays are unavoidable in real traffic. Here, controller gains should be synthesized under constant and time-varying communication delays to satisfy L-2-string stability conditions (in the Lyapunov sense). Contrary to previously studied convex method, controller gains are now synthesized with iterative nonlinear minimization algorithm and Cone Complementarity Linearization (CCL) method. The results show that the new CCL approach provides more accurate and practical stability bounds. Hence, this shows the potential of CCL to perform more sensitive analyses. The results obtained are evaluated by simulations with the heterogeneous CACC system.Conference Object Covariance Features for Trajectory Analysis(IEEE, 2016) Karadeniz, Talha; Maras, Hadi HakanIn this work, we aimed to demonstrate that covariance estimation methods can be used for trajectory classification. We have shown that, features obtained via shrunk covariance estimation are suitable for describing trajectories. We have arrived to the conclusion that, when compared to Dynamic Time Warping, the explained technique is faster and may yield more accurate results.
