Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 2Propagation of Elegant Higher-Order Gaussian Beams in Turbulent Atmosphere(Spie-int Soc Optical Engineering, 2010) Wang, Fei; Cai, Yangjian; Eyyuboglu, Halil T.; Baykal, YahyaPropagation of elegant higher-order Gaussian beams in turbulent atmosphere is studied in detail. Analytical propagation formulae of elegant higher-order Gaussian beams in turbulent atmosphere are derived based on extended Huygens-Fresnel integral. The intensity and spreading properties of elegant higher-order Gaussian beams and standard higher-order Gaussian beams in turbulent atmosphere are studied numerically and comparatively. It is found that the propagation properties of elegant higher-order Gaussian beams and standard higher-order Gaussian beams are much different from their properties in free space The standard higher-order Gaussian beams spread more rapidly than the elegant higher-order Gaussian beams in turbulent atmosphere.Article Citation - WoS: 7Citation - Scopus: 10Propagation of Various Dark Hollow Beams Through an Optical System in Turbulent Atmosphere(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2010) Cai, Yangjian; Eyyuboglu, Halil T.; Baykal, Yahya; Eyyubolu, Halil T.The propagation of a dark hollow beam (DHB) of circular, elliptical or rectangular symmetry through aligned and misaligned ABCD optical systems in turbulent atmosphere is investigated. Analytical propagation formulae for the average intensities of various DHBs are derived based on the extended Huygens-Fresnel integral. As a numerical example, the focusing properties of various DHBs in turbulent atmosphere are studied It is found that the focusing properties of various DHBs in turbulent atmosphere are much different from their focusing properties in free space (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. The results obtained by using the approximate analytical formula are in good agreement with those obtained by using the numerical integral calculation. As a numerical example, the focusing properties (including average irradiance distribution and focal shift) of a partially coherent FGB focused by an apertured thin lens are studied, and it is found that the focusing properties of a partially coherent FGB are closely related to its initial coherence and the aperture width. Our results provide an effective and fast way for studying the paraxial propagation of a partially coherent FGB through apertured ABCD optical systems. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
