Article Citation - WoS: 16Citation - Scopus: 13Wavelet Transform and Artificial Neutral Network for the Quantitative Resolution of Ternary Mixtures(Revista Chimie Srl, 2006) Dinc, Erdal; Baleanu, Dumitru; Baleanu, Dumitru; Tas, Aysegul; MatematikTwo different approaches continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and artificial neural network (ANN) were successfully applied to the quantitative resolution of ternary mixtures of paracetamol (PAR), metamizol (MET) and caffeine (CA) having strongly overlapping spectra. First approach is based on the use of CWT signals of the ratio spectra of three active compounds in samples. Various CWT families were tested for the extraction of cardinal information and small noise condition and higher peaks of the original spectra. In this paper, three methods: Mexican hat function (MEX) (a = 70), reverse biorthogonal (RBIO3.5) (a = 100) and biorthogonal (BIOR2.4) (a = 90) were found suitable for determination of three active compounds and their signal analysis. ANN, as a multivariate numerical method, was used for the quantitative resolution of the same ternary mixtures. The performance of CWT and ANN approaches was validated by analyzing the synthetic mixtures of PAR, MET and CA compounds. In addition, the standard addition technique was also used for the same purpose. The experimental results provided by CWT technique were compared with each other and those obtained by ANN method and a coincidence was observed for all the obtained results.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography for the Quantitative Analysis of Ampicillin Sodium and Sulbactam Sodium in a Pharmaceutical Preparation(Revista Chimie Srl, 2012) Dinc, Erdal; Baleanu, Dumitru; Baleanu, Dumitru; Kucukbagriacik, Emre; MatematikIn this article a new method based on ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) was proposed for the simultaneous rapid quantitative analysis of of ampicillyn sodium (AS) and sulbactam sodium (SS) in a commercial preparation. Chromatographic separation and quantitation of allura red were performed on an Acquiting UPLC (TM) BEH Phenyl (100 mm x 1.0 mm, id., 1.7 mu m) column system and a mobile phase corresponding to a mixture cosisting of acetonitrile and 0.1 M (NH4)(2)CO3 (70:30, v/v) containing 2 mL of trietylamine at a constant flow rate, 1.0 mL/min. Chromatographic calibration graphs in the linear range of 10-80 mu g/mL for SS and 10-70 mu g/mL for AS was calculated by using the linear regression analysis based on the relationship between the concentration and the peak area with a detection at the wavelength 220 nm. The UPLC method was validated by using the synthetic mixtures and successfully applied to the UPLC quantitation of the commercial samples of the related drugs. We concluded that a good agreement of UPLC quantitation results was reported.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 8Continuous Wavelet Transform Applied To the Quantitative Analysis of a Binary Mixture(Revista Chimie Srl, 2009) Dinc, Erdal; Baleanu, Dumitru; Baleanu, Dumitru; Üstündag, Ö; Aboul-Enein, HY; MatematikSignal processing methods, continuous wavelet transform (CWT) methods, were proposed for the simultaneous spectral determination of ampicillin sodium (AS) and sulbactam sodium (SS) in their synthetic binary mixtures and pharmaceutical preparations. Firstly, the ratio spectra were obtained by dividing the absorption spectra of a pure compound and its binary mixture by a standard spectrum of one of the compounds in binary mixture. Secondly, the ratio spectra of AS, SS and their samples were processed by the Mexican hat-CWT and Symtles3-CWT (MEX-CWT and SYM3-CWT, respectively). hi this application, the MEX and SYM3 among wavelet families were found to be optimal to obtain the highest spectral recoveries. Calibration graphs of AS and SS in the linear concentration range of 10-70 mu g/mL and 10-55 mu g/mL were obtained by measuring the amplitudes of the transformed ratio signals, respectively. Percent mean recoveries obtained by application of the CWT methods to the synthetic mixtures were found between 99.1 % and 103.6 %. Both SYM3-CWT and MEX-CWT methods were applied to the real samples containing two active compounds and successful results were obtained.Article Citation - WoS: 13Citation - Scopus: 13Ratio Spectra-Continuous Wavelet Transform and Ratio Spectra-Derivative Spectrophotometry for the Quantitative Analysis of Effervescent Tablets of Vitamin C and Aspirin(Revista Chimie Srl, 2008) Baleanu, Dumitru; Dinc, ErdalSimultaneous spectrophotometric analysis of tablets and binary mixtures containing vitamin C (VC) and aspirin (ASP) with overlapping spectra was performed by ratio spectra-continuous wavelet transform (RS-CWT) and ratio spectra-derivative spectrophotometry (RS-DS). In the application of RS-CWT and RS-DS to the simultaneous analysis of VC and ASP no separation step was considered. The basis of RS-CWT and RS-DS approaches is the transformation and the derivation of the ratio spectra of the related compounds and their samples. Calibration graphs in the linear concentration range 4-20 mu g/mL for both compounds were obtained by measuring the CWT and first derivative amplitudes at 260.8 nm for VC and 234.6 nm for ASP in the BIOR-CWT spectra and at 256.0 nm for VC and 230.7 nm for ASP in the first derivative of ratio spectra, respectively. Both methods were tested by using the synthetic mixtures and standard addition technique, and were applied to the simultaneous determination of VC and ASP in commercial effervescent tablets and a good coincidence was reported for experimental results obtained by the proposed RS-CWT and RS-DS.
