Article String Stable Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control under Actuator Saturation(Pamukkale Univ, 2016) Schmidt, Klaus Werner; Cankaya, Erkam; Bingol, HilalCooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) enables safe vehicle following in dense traffic based on distance measurements and communicated data via vehicle-to-vehicle communication. Existing CACC designs achieve the essential property of string stability but are limited to linear vehicle models. In this paper, we show that string stability is preserved when using a nonlinear vehicle model if the input signal of the leader vehicle does not saturate.Article A Housing Satisfaction Study in an Area of Urban Transformation: The Case of the Turk-Is Apartment Blocks(Yildiz Technical Univ, FAC Architecture, 2017) Kahraman, Zerrin Ezgi; Ozdemir, Suna SenemThis study investigated the housing satisfaction and the urban transformation expectations in the Turk-is Blocks, built by a labor cooperative in the Altinpark neighborhood of Altindag, Ankara. The area was declared risky in 2013. A survey and in-depth interviews were conducted to examine the satisfaction of residents with housing and their expectations of urban transformation. The results revealed that a large number of the respondents were satisfied with their houses and living environment. Satisfaction increased with duration of time living in the area and age. Over time, the homogenous and stable population in the area has reorganized their houses according to their needs and established a spatial, social, and emotional connection to their neighborhood. The strengths of the area include its neighborhood identity, close social relations, accessibility, and sufficiency of urban services and green areas. Areas of dissatisfaction included insufficient indoor installations, cultural/sports facilities, and security and parking lot problems. Most residents did not support urban transformation plans; however, those who do support the idea have high expectations of the process. With the condition of maintaining their current spatial rights, many perceived urban transformation as a solution to the problems of the area and indicated that their economic status has improved and that life has become more luxurious and comfortable.Article Violation of Public Policy as a Ground for Annulment of an Arbitral Award Within the Context of Arbitration Proceedings Conducted Pursuant to the Code of Civil Procedure(Istanbul Univ, Fac Law, 2025) Tanriver, SuhaThe subject of this study is the violation of public policy, which constitutes one of the most significant grounds for setting aside an arbitral award within the framework of arbitration proceedings conducted under the provisions of the Turkish Code of Civil Procedure. In this context, it is first demonstrated that it is difficult to provide a precise definition of public policy due to its variable nature depending on time and place. Classifications proposed in relation to this concept are addressed, and by taking into account scholarly opinions and especially judicial practice, it is determined that a violation of public policy, as a ground for setting aside, refers to contradictions with the body of institutions and rules that protect the fundamental structure and core interests of Turkish society at a given point in time. Subsequently, individual cases considered as violations of public policy-particularly in light of court decisions-are examined, and specific issues often associated with such violations are analyzed and critiqued. Finally, the study emphasizes that the determination of a violation of public policy lies within the discretion of the court, depending on the particular circumstances and features of the case. It is also noted that, even if not explicitly raised in the statement of claim for annulment, the court may consider this issue ex officio, and the related review-albeit to a limited extent-permits substantive scrutiny of the arbitral award.Conference Object Covariance Features for Trajectory Analysis(IEEE, 2016) Karadeniz, Talha; Maras, Hadi HakanIn this work, we aimed to demonstrate that covariance estimation methods can be used for trajectory classification. After filtering, the imbalanced dataset was balanced with 5 different SMOTE methods and classified with various machine learning algorithms. Coarse-K-Nearest Neighbor, Bagged Trees, and Artificial Neural Networks models were evaluated in epilepsy detection. The performance of these different models was compared with Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC) and F1 Score metrics. Particularly, methods based on BERT have demonstrated remarkable performance across various tasks by offering robust capabilities in deeply understanding texts semantically. However, despite these advancements, there is a notable scarcity of studies applying these technologies in the aviation sector. This paper develops a multi-class classification model for aviation-specific texts using variants of BERT. The study encompasses the processes of collecting web content related to aircraft, labeling and model training. Tugba; Bastug, Gulbahar; Erdogan, Seyda; Sakarya, Direnc; Durmaz, Nazli; PsikolojiIntroduction: Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI) is frequently used in patients with dementia for the assessment of agitation severity. This instrument is especially used in research investigating the severity of behavioral symptoms and their treatment responses. In this study, psychometric properties of the Turkish version of CMAI were investigated in patients with dementia (n=52). Materials and Method: CMAI-Turkish version was applied by face-to-face interview to the caregivers of dementia patients who were admitted to a geriatric psychiatry outpatient clinic. For validity, the correlations between CMAI total scores and Neuropsychiatry Inventory (NPI) total and subscale scores were evaluated. For internal consistency, Cronbach alpha value of the items was calculated. Results: CMAI scores were significantly correlated with NPI scores and Cronbach alpha value of the scale was high (0.89). Conclusion: Turkish version of CMAI is a valid and reliable tool for the assessment of the frequency and severity of agitation behavior. Further studies might evaluate inter-rater reliability of the scale in inpatients with dementia.
