    On the Solution of a Parabolic PDE Involving a Gas Flow Through a Semi-Infinite Porous Medium

    Taking as start point the parabolic partial differential equation with the respective initial and boundary conditions, the present research focuses onto the flow of a sample of waste-water derived from a standard/conventional dyeing process. In terms of a highly prioritized concern, meaning environment decontamination and protection, in order to remove the dyes from the waste waters, photocatalyses like ZnO or TiO2 nanoparticles were formulated, due to their high surface energy which makes them extremely reactive and attractive. According to the basics of ideal fluid, the key point is the gas flow through an ideal porous pipe consisting of nanoparticles bound one to each other, forming a porous matrix/pipe. The modeling of the gas flow through a porous media is quite valuable because of its importance in investigating the gas-solid processes. The present study is a valid contribution to the existing literature, by developing a nonstandard line method for the partial differential equation, in order to obtain a numerical solution of unsteady flow of gas through nano porous medium. Hence, the physical problem is modeled by a highly nonlinear ordinary differential equation detailed on a semi-finite domain and represents a guidance for several questions originating in the gas flow theory. The findings of this study offered a facile approach to improve an attractive issue related to materials science/chemistry, like synthesis of ZnO or TiO2 nanoparticles forming an ideal nano porous pipe with efficiency in industrial waste waters decontamination.

    Life Cycle Assessment of Geopolymer Materials Utilizing Construction and Demolition Waste

    This study assessed the environmental impacts of construction and demolition waste (CDW)-based geopolymers. For analysis, the cradle-to-gate system boundary was established. Two different geopolymer mixtures were evaluated: one composed entirely of CDW-based precursors-(CDW100), and another incorporating supplementary cementitious materials-(SCMs) as a 20 % replacement of CDW-based precursors-(CDW80SCM20). Raw materials were sourced from a diverse range of demolition waste. NaOH and Ca(OH)2 were employed as activators. Additionally, a cementitious mixture with comparable strength was included in the analysis as a benchmark for comparison with the geopolymers. The results of the impact analyses revealed that CDW80SCM20 had a greater environmental impact across various categories compared to CDW100. The relatively higher environmental impacts of the CDW80SCM20 mixture are largely attributed to the transport-related environmental burdens associated with the inclusion of SCMs. The largest differences were for land occupation and global warming, at 30.8 % and 16.9 %, respectively. Moreover, the results indicated that the environmental impacts of the CDW-based mortars were significantly lower than those of the cementitious system, with the exception of aquatic eutrophication and ozone layer depletion. The increase in ozone layer depletion is mainly associated with the production of NaOH via the chlor-alkali process, which contributes to emissions affecting stratospheric ozone. The advantages of geopolymers in terms of environmental impact made it possible to reduce the effects of global warming by 48.1 %, aquatic acidification by 22.1 %, land occupation by 45.2 %, and nonrenewable energy consumption by 1.83 %. However, aquatic eutrophication and ozone layer depletion were found to be higher compared to cementitious mortar.

    The Role of Positive Relationship Events in Romantic Attachment Avoidance

    Motivated by the Attachment Security Enhancement Model (Arriaga et al., 2018), the present research investigated the associations between positive relationship experiences and romantic attachment avoidance in three dyadic studies that combined multiple methods, including daily diaries, laboratory observations, and longitudinal follow-ups. Frequency of daily positive relationship events (but not external positive events) during a 21-day diary period predicted declines in romantic attachment avoidance (but not anxiety) from pre- to post-diary in fledgling couples (Study 1) and newlyweds (Study 2). Video-recorded discussions of fledgling couples' shared positive experiences revealed that behaviors validating the relationship (but not simply showing conversational interest) predicted lagged declines in romantic attachment avoidance (but not anxiety) over 1 month (Study 3). The associations were mediated by positive affect during the diary period in Studies 1 and 2, and by changes in positive affect from pre- to post-discussion in Study 3. Positive relationship experiences did not significantly interact with time in predicting romantic avoidance over a 1-year follow-up with quarterly assessments of attachment orientations in Study 1, over an 8-month follow-up with monthly assessments in Study 2, or over a 2-month follow-up with monthly assessments in Study 3. Altogether, these studies provide one of the most comprehensive tests of how positive relationship experiences in nondistressing contexts are linked to romantic attachment.

    Convolutional Neural Network-Based Deep Learning for Landslide Susceptibility Mapping in the Bakhtegan Watershed

    Landslides pose a significant threat to infrastructure, ecosystems, and human safety, necessitating accurate and efficient susceptibility assessment methods. Traditional models often struggle to capture the complex spatial dependencies and interactions between geological and environmental factors. To address this gap, this study employs a deep learning approach, utilizing a convolutional neural network (CNN) for high-precision landslide susceptibility mapping in the Bakhtegan watershed, southwestern Iran. A comprehensive landslide inventory was compiled using 235 documented landslide locations, validated through remote sensing and field surveys. An equal number of non-landslide locations were systematically selected to ensure balanced model training. Fifteen key conditioning factors-including topographical, geological, hydrological, and climatological variables-were incorporated into the model. While traditional statistical methods often fail to extract spatial hierarchies, the CNN model effectively processes multi-dimensional geospatial data, learning intricate patterns influencing slope instability. The CNN model outperformed other classification approaches, achieving an accuracy of 95.76% and a precision of 95.11%. Additionally, error metrics confirmed its reliability, with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.11864, mean squared error (MSE) of 0.18796, and root mean squared error (RMSE) of 0.18632. The results indicate that the northern and northeastern regions of the Bakhtegan watershed are highly susceptible to landslides, highlighting areas where proactive mitigation strategies are crucial. This study demonstrates that deep learning, particularly CNNs, offers a powerful and scalable solution for landslide susceptibility assessment. The findings provide valuable insights for urban planners, engineers, and policymakers to implement effective risk reduction strategies and enhance resilience in landslide-prone regions.

    My Partner Really Gets Me: Affective Reactivity To Partner Stress Predicts Greater Relationship Quality in New Couples

    Affective reactivity, defined as within-person increases in negative affect triggered by daily stressors, has well-established links to personal well-being. Prior work conceptualized affective reactivity as an intrapersonal phenomenon, reflecting reactions to one 's own stressors. Here, we conceptualized reactivity interpersonally, examining one 's responses to a romantic partner 's daily stressors. Across four longitudinal dyadic studies, we investigated how reactivity to partner stress predicts relationship quality appraisals. In fledgling couples, reactivity to a partner 's stressors, assessed via weekly (Study 1; N = 152) and daily (Study 2; N = 144) diaries, positively predicted partner relationship quality. In both studies, the associations were mediated by the partner 's perceptions of responsiveness. Furthermore, reactivity to partner stress buffered against declines in partner relationship quality over 8 weeks in Study 1 and 13 months in Study 2. The relevance of reactivity to partner stress for relationship quality diminished in the later stages of relationships. Among samples of established couples (Studies 3 and 4, Ns = 164 and 208, respectively), reactivity to partner stress did not directly predict partner relationship quality or moderate its trajectory over time. Overall, the predominant pattern across four studies painted a portrait of relational well-being benefits specific to fledgling relationships. Through its novel framework of situating affective reactivity interpersonally between partners, the present research contributes to both affective science and relationship science.

    Relationships of Transformational and Paternalistic Leadership Styles With Follower Needs, Multidimensional Work Motivations and Organizational Commitment: a Mediated Model

    Paternalistic Leadership (PL) style is suggested to be an emic manifestation of Transformational Leadership (TL) in cultural contexts characterized by high power distance and collectivism. The present study investigated the effects of TL and PL behaviors on employees' multidimensional work motivation and organizational commitment and the mediating effects of satisfaction of psychological needs (needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness) in these relationships. Data were collected from 423 white-collar employees and analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling. The findings revealed that TL was significantly related to employees' autonomous and controlled work motivations as well as amotivation via its association with the satisfaction of employees' needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. PL was associated with employees' autonomous work motivations and amotivation via satisfaction of employees' need for relatedness. Autonomous motivations were positively associated with affective commitment; whereas controlled motivations were positively related to normative commitment. Amotivation was negatively associated with all types of commitment. The findings are discussed in terms of theoretical and practical implications as well as suggestions for future research.

    Psychotherapeutic Interventions Used in Psychological Treatment Studies With Syrian Refugees: a Systematic Review

    The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East have led to a substantial influx of Syrian refugees, exposing them to severe traumatic experiences and contributing to a range of mental health issues. This systematic review examines psychotherapeutic interventions employed in psychological treatment studies with Syrian refugees, focusing on 22 articles identified across Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect. The review highlights the need for psychotherapeutic intervention for Syrian refugees due to the high prevalence of post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, grief, and loss which results from an increased risk of various forms of violence and exploitation. Psychotherapeutic interventions in the reviewed studies were Problem Management Plus (PM+), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), eye movement, desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), narrative therapy, dance and movement therapy, art therapy, psychosocial interventions, and online psychotherapy. In the studies conducted with young and child refugees, various psychotherapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral skills therapy, EMDR group therapy, art, dance and movement therapy, and early adolescence skills for emotions were applied. In studies conducted with adult refugees, it is noteworthy that studies frequently applied the PM+ intervention. It is seen that PM+ was applied especially in the camp environment at the beginning of the refugee process. In most of the studies, group format and face-to-face psychotherapeutic intervention were preferred. The findings emphasize the importance of tailored interventions that account for the cultural backgrounds and experiences of Syrian refugees. By addressing these barriers and implementing culturally sensitive approaches, mental health professionals can better support the psychological recovery and integration of Syrian refugees in host countries.

    Impact of Indoor Soundscape Workshop on Sound Awareness of Interior Architecture Studentsa)

    This study aims to investigate the effects of attending a soundscape workshop on the awareness of sound as a design element for interior architects. The workshop is structured in three phases: theoretical lectures, practical applications, and discussions. In the first phase, fundamentals of architectural acoustics, the sense of place, and soundscape theory were delivered through theoretical lectures. In the second phase, participants were asked to design a sound environment for a restaurant and an office. In the third and final phase, participants discussed their sound designs from the perspectives of the lectures and sound-related topics. Additionally, participants completed an open-ended questionnaire to evaluate their workshop experience and provided suggestions for improvement. The effectiveness of the workshop in raising awareness was tested using a pre-test/post-test analysis method, with data collected through structured questionnaires completed by participants before and after the workshop. The results of the statistical analysis show that attending the workshop changed participants' evaluations of sound expectations and preferences, as well as their sensitivity to sound. The findings indicate that participating in an indoor soundscape workshop can positively influence interior architects' understanding of sound as a design element to be considered in their future work.     The Development of Sustainable Iot E-Waste Management Guideline for Households

    The introduction of new technology, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), entails a growth in digital devices, which could ultimately result in a high amount of electronic trash (e-waste) production if they are not appropriately managed. Apart from that, the regulation on possible "IoT E-waste" generation is yet to be regulated, probably due to the new development and implementation of IoT globally. Hence, this paper proposed a Sustainable IoT E-waste Management guideline for households. This guideline could assist government agencies and policymakers in their strategies, planning, development, and implementation of a sustainable household IoT e-waste management initiatives in Malaysia. This study is an exploratory study that adopts a qualitative case study research method. The guideline was developed based on the Integrated Sustainable Waste Management (ISWM) Model. This guideline contributes to Malaysia's sustainability agenda in reducing carbon emissions intensity towards 2030 by 45 percent.

    Multidetermination of Thiamine Hcl and Pyridoxine Hcl in Their Mixture Using Continuous Daubechies and Biorthogonal Wavelet Analysis

    A new graphical method based on the one-dimensional wavelet transform (WT) was proposed and tested on mixture of thiamine hydrochloride (THI) and pyridoxine hydrochloride (PYR) in the presence of strongly overlapping signals. We selected from the data of the UV-VIS absorption spectra a signal consisting of 1150 points corresponding to the concentration range 8-32 mg ml(-1) for each vitamin and we subjected it to Daubechies8 (DAUB8) and Biorthogonal6.8 (BIOR6.8) wavelet transforms. Since the peaks of the transformed signals were bigger than original ones a zero crossing method was applied to obtain the calibration graphs. In addition, the validity of Beer-Lambert law was assumed for the transformed signals. An appropriate scale setting was choosing to obtain an alternative calibration for each method. MATLAB 6.5 software was used for one-dimensional wavelet analysis and the basic concepts about wavelet method were given. The obtained results were successfully compared among each other as well as with those obtained by other literature methods. The method developed in this paper is rapid, easy to apply, not expensive and it is suitable for analyzing of the overlapping signals of compounds in their mixtures without any chemical pre-treatment.
