Tokat'ta Yapılı Çevrenin Cumhuriyet Dönemi'ndeki Dönüşümü

Abstract

Tokat ili, tarih boyunca birçok uygarlığa ev sahipliği yapmış çok katmanlı kültürel ve mimari yapısıyla sentez bir kent özelliği taşımaktadır. Kent, Cumhuriyet Dönemi'nde yaşanan toplumsal, kültürel ve siyasal dönüşümlerle birlikte mimari alanda da önemli değişim süreci geçirmiştir. Tezin amacı, Tokat ilinin Cumhuriyet Dönemi'ndeki mimari dokusunu inceleyerek kentin geçirdiği değişim ve dönüşümü ortaya çıkarmaktır. Bu bağlamda Tokat'ın Selçuklu öncesi, Selçuklu, Osmanlı ve 19. yüzyıl dönemlerine ait mimari dokusu arka planda ele alınmış; ardından Cumhuriyet Dönemi'nde inşa edilen yapılar üzerinden kentin değişim ve dönüşümü analiz edilmiştir. Tezde, kentin siluetindeki değişim haritalar ve görsellerle desteklenmiştir. Belediye arşiv araştırmaları ve ilgili çalışmalar da tezin şekillenmesinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Özellikle Tokat ilinde Cumhuriyet Dönemi'nde inşa edilen kamu yapıları kentin silüetindeki değişimi yansıtan temel unsur olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bu durum Cumhuriyet Dönemi'nin modernleşme anlayışı ile yeni bir mimari kimliğin oluştuğunu ortaya çıkarmıştır. Sonuç olarak, kentin Cumhuriyet Dönemi özelinde mimari dokusunun analizi, Tokat'ın geçmişten günümüze taşıdığı çok katmanlı yapının ve mimarlık tarihi içerisindeki yerinin anlaşılmasına katkı sağlamaktadır.

The province of Tokat, with its multilayered cultural and architectural structure, has hosted numerous civilizations throughout history and is characterized by a synthesis of city characteristics. Along with the social, cultural, and political transformations experienced during the Republican Period, the city also underwent significant architectural transformation. The aim of this thesis is to examine the architectural texture of Tokat during the Republican Period and to reveal the changes and transformations the city underwent. In this context, the architectural texture of Tokat from the pre-Seljuk, Seljuk, Ottoman, and 19th-century periods is examined as a background. The city's change and transformation are then analyzed through structures constructed during the Republican Period. The thesis supports the changes in the city's silhouette with maps and visuals. Municipal archive research and related studies play a significant role in shaping the thesis. Public buildings constructed in Tokat during the Republican Period are considered key elements reflecting the change in the city's silhouette. This reveals the formation of a new architectural identity through the modernization approach of the Republican Period. As a result, an analysis of the city's architectural texture, particularly during the Republican period, contributes to an understanding of the multilayered structure Tokat has carried from the past to the present and its place within architectural history.
