Master Thesis The spatial analysis and ideal evaluation for the school locations in Hilla city using gis to make the best decision(Çankaya Üniversitesi, 2017) Alfaras, Mohammed Shukur MahmoodEducational services are vital community facilities due to their significant impact on the life of a city and community; these represent the foundation on which the cultural and social development of the city are based, and improvements to the educational level of a community depend on appropriate attention being paid to the optimization of the spatial distribution and the correct locations of schools, in terms of the existing bases and standards. The aim of this thesis is therefore to carry out a study and analysis of the efficient spatial distribution of educational services within the city of Hilla, to determine the flaws in this distribution, and to identify how to address these on the basis of planning standards. This study also shows that the distribution of schools within the city of Hilla does not include a clear strategy for the spatial planning of those schools, and that the selection of their locations has depended on the presence of vacant spaces and the available possibilities, regardless of whether these match locations based on the accepted criteria in Iraq. Furthermore, there is a lack of spatial planning and well thought-out distribution for schools in terms of population size. In order to optimize the planning of this service, the use of GIS technology is required. This technology is used for the organization of these services, to find the most suitable solutions and to make better decisions. GIS technology is used to achieve a homogeneous distribution of services for the benefit of all citizens in all sectors of society. This work was carried out using the Spatial Analysis for School Locations (SASL) application. The interfaces of the SASL application are designed using Visual Studio 2013, and the processing code is implemented in the Visual C# programming language, using the tools and methods of spatial analysis in GIS with assistance from the ArcObjects library, and relying on a geo-spatial database built using the ArcCatalog v 10.3.1 application to handle and analyse spatial data and to assess the locations of schools, according to a set of standards. The available data was provided by the Directorate of Education of Babylon and other government departments (including the Municipality of Hilla and the Directorate of Statistics in Babylon), for the design of the geographic database.Master Thesis A GIS-based decision support system for locating new train stations in Iraq(Çankaya Üniversitesi, 2017) Naji, Hayder FarisRailway networks are one of the most necessary infrastructures all around the world. Today, to manage these networks, Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques should be used in order to study and analyze the railway network and its stations. It is very difficult to deal with railway systems by using traditional methods and the results may become inaccurate because of the huge amount of data related to them. In addition, by using GIS techniques in the development of the rail networks, the decision-making process will be improved and supported. Moreover, the results will be accurate because they result from using specific criteria to achieve a defined aim. In this study, the train stations in all of Iraq's provinces were studied and analyzed by using network analysis, which is one of the most powerful techniques within GIS. A GIS-based system was built by using the free trial copy of ArcGIS® software, PYTHON™ programming language, and ASP.Net (C#) programming language in order to develop a full decision-making environment to manage and locate train stations in the country of Iraq. The main methodology for this study is divided into two parts. v The first part identifies the problems in the current stations through the analysis of those stations by using network analysis. The second part determines the best candidate locations for new train stations depending on the number of people around those locations and the distance between those people and the new candidate locations according to the existing road network. In addition, the new locations should be accessible by people who are within a walking time of 20 minutes from the new locations as an accessibility value. The results will be presented as spatial maps, which portray the best locations for new train stations, and tabular data of the areas and the number of people to be served by the new stations.Master Thesis Unified threat management (UTM): A comparative study(Çankaya Üniversitesi, 2017) Ahmad, Ahmad AyidNetwork security has been the foremost need of the technologically advanced world, when considering the implications in the business environment. It has been affirmed that the business enterprises have intensively become susceptible to the data theft or data breaching attacks over the internet; thus, credibility of the processes has been affected. Businesses that lack in being considerate towards the competitive needs of the strategies tend to face declining performance. It leads to the assertion that the decision making process of the businesses must be based on the deployment of continuous improvement prospects. In this thesis, we assessed the business stance of an Imaginary Organisation that led to the assertion that the current network infrastructure of traditional firewall needs to be upgraded. The existing traditional firewall has been disabled to standing against security threats such as Denial of Service, SQL injection, email viruses ..etc. Therefore, the study has been proposed to the migration plan of an Imaginary Organisation network that serve 200 users with developed security services. The plan has been presented to the UTM as advanced features security solution. In order to select the best UTM that satisfied the demands of an Imaginary Organization security requirements, a comparison study among four commercial UTMs has been held. This study achieved by using a virtual lab that consistent from a multi virtual machines that was used as a test environment. The four UTMs have been assessed based on the attributes of visions, execution, ease of use, web-interfaces, device performance, throughput capacity, intrusion prevention system features along with the guaranteed elements of security and many other factors. The experimental work includes installation and test of the software's such as SONICWALL, SOPHOS XG Firewall, WarchGuard, and Palo Alto Networks. The researcher also analyses the impacts of Gartner's reviews along with testing lab result to come out with conclusions that the UTM device called SOPHOS XG Firewall was the best tested device based on study criteria. This device provides the most significant security features affordably. SOPHOS XG Firewall provides the security features such as email protection, Unknown Application Identification, along with the element of Full-Featured Web Application Firewall that able to prevent SQL injection attacks and Denial of service ..etc which traditional firewalls and other UTMs may not be capable of doing. Moreover, the study has presented details in this regard, along with the clearly articulated recommendations as well.
