    The principal goal of enhancement techniques is to process an image so that the result is more suitable than the original image for a specific application. In this study the remote sensing is chosen as the area of that specific application. First a survey is made on the enhancement techniques used for the enhancement of remote sensing images. Then optimization of these techniques are tried using parallel computation. Although optimization efforts cover a subdivision of the techniques, the results offer a definite idea about what can be achieved from the parallelization of the enhancement techniques used in the area of the remote sensing
